Birds In My Garden In January & February

We get a good variety of birds in our garden, although not often anything unusual. However, we have had a Grey Wagtail on a frequent basis (an annual occurrence for several years now), and a Blackcap on a 'several times a day' basis for most of January and February (but not now seen for a week). Several species came to us in the really hard weather, when much of the 'natural' water was frozen over (including many of the lakes round here), as we have constantly running water, and drinking stations, round our pond.

This year I decided to keep a note of what we have seen - 22 species in January alone, but only increasing to 23 by the end of February. I have created a list on the right hand side of this blog to show what has been seen. Some photos of the birds in my garden are shown below. All are pretty obvious to their identity, but captioned for beginners !

Bullfinch (male)

Starling

Blackcap (male)

Coal Tit

Song Thrush

Grey Wagtail
